the reason scotland if they vote yes could refuse to take a share of the debt is simple if the uk government refuses to share other assets that are in scotland and in the uk with scotland then there is no reason for the scottish government to share the debt, it is like saying you live in my house but i took out this debt now you are moving out you have to pay this share of the debt, unless you are getting something when leaving you are not obliged to take that debt on as you never took it out in the first place as such it does nt belong to you unless you agree to take a share of it then you have to pay it.

National Debt
I thought i would try to explain to both sides why the national debt could be defaulted on, but in reality it would not be a default unless we have it in the first place.

Defense
So the british defense minister says there will be 15000 job losses if scotland votes for independence, and the snp say that scotland is getting hit worse with cut back anyway so we are not losing out.
So we have two different stories here and two different blackmail type scenarios.
Well the truth is, if scotland votes yes there will be job losses because a british defense will no longer be able to support having the same number of defense personnel as it does now because there will be lost from the scottish economy.
Will it be 15000, i very much doubt that because the number of personnel in scotland who serve the british defense are only about 5000 and those will be first cut, so i say it be 5000 plus maybe 3000 more from other parts of britain that remains.
So why 15000 because they want people to believe that britain and independent scotland would be much weaker than being together, do remember they will say anything to get you to vote no.
So is scotland getting hit worse in cutbacks and will not lose out, in bases terms yes scotland has lost a lot during the cut backs, but this was happening long before the cutbacks, the cost to run the bases in scotland is higher than that in england.
Snp claim then spend more money on scottish defenses this might be true but the reason for that is they need to spend more to achieve the same.
So does this mean scottish independence would make us weaker and more likely to attack? well there is plenty of small countries that defend himself now so not necessarily, plus as long as scotland is not associated with britain or america they are less likely to be targets, i mean supply forces to british campaigns like iraq.
So what is my conclusion will scotland be better or worse off in defense after independence, well the truth is it be pretty much the same as it is now, but that all depend on scottish government spending and what are security risks would be, there is no way for anyone to determine that until after we become independent.
Should what should we vote if defense is our concern, vote with what you believe will give you better life, if that is remaining part of britain vote no if that is being scotland independent then vote yes.
